This consulting practice (www.sanvaad.in), whose name literally means communicating in harmony, is dedicated to helping organisations and their leaders build the capacity to be aware, learn and respond to change. I work with Board-level executives/CEO’s of clients over a long-term basis, never less than about 12 months and typically two to three years, helping them address a wide range of strategic issues. Competitive positioning, people development, organisation structures, motivational approaches, information flow mechanisms, funding options and resource allocation issues are among the areas where I have worked. I have acted as a mentor and a coach to a number of such executives, helping them understand key challenges facing them and improve their personal and organisational effectiveness. A large number of these have been from mid-size companies (200-1000 crore) in the middle of rapid expansions, creating unfamiliar leadership challenges for owners and senior executives. I have also worked with rapidly-growing family-owned businesses as they seek to make the transition to bringing in professional executives, necessary to run the larger business. Clients have also come from global top ten power producers, top ten resources extractors and top ten liquid transportation companies. Clients have come from a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, financial services, IT, education, media, power, telecommunications and transportation. Clients belong to for-profit as well as not-for profit sectors. To more deeply understand learning processes among children and adults, I twice took two-year sabbaticals, once to take the responsibilities of Principal at Sahyadri School, a school of Krishnamurti Foundation, and another time to set up a 100-acre residential school in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. I use dialogue as a primary learning tool. Participants learn how to use inner dialogue as a self-development process, and external dialogue as the path to organisational learning, team-building and responsiveness to change. Director - Centre for Learning Resources At Centre for Learning Resources, we work with government education systems (municipal schools, aanganwadis, government departments involved in education, etc.) in an attempt to improve the quality of educational outcomes for the economically disadvantaged communities in India’s cities and villages. We currently work with schools of Pune Municipal Corporation, Zilla Parishad, Pune, ICDS aanganwadis in the Melghat region of Maharashtra, Pune City and rural Karnataka, SCERT in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and with rural communities in Chhattisgarh.
